Mom’s Words Return Through Baby Book

“Why would I want a baby book?” a common question from expectant parents and family members. There are perhaps hundreds of answers to this question, but let’s look into the future for the best answer.

One day while I was sitting in my office editing some product photos my phone rang. “Thank you for calling BabySakes” I answered warmly. John introduced himself and continued, “I’m so glad I reached you. You see, I had to call you and tell you about one of the greatest moments of my life!” I was intrigued and encouraged him to continue. As the owner of one of the largest baby book stores in the world I love hearing baby book stories…

John shared that he had just celebrated a major milestone in his life, his 60th birthday. He said friends and family came from near and far to surprise him that day. Sadly, he shared, there was one person missing, John’s mother. She had died the previous year and this was his first birthday without his mother. I could hear the emotion in John’s voice as he described “the best part of his 60th birthday surprise party.”

By far the best part of the day, John emphatically shared, was that his wife had found his baby book, scanned the pages and included them into a power point presentation. John said there wasn’t a dry eye in the room as they read the beloved words his mother had written about him as a baby. In her own handwriting he experienced her thoughts and feelings as she first met him. He said it was as if his Mom was there on his birthday.

John exclaimed, “I just had to call you and tell you what a difference the work you do makes in people’s lives.” His last words were the most heartfelt words of gratitude I’ve ever heard.

I know expectant parents spend hours picking out the right crib, stroller etc. While these are important items I feel choosing the right baby book is one of the most important choices of all. Long after the stroller is given away and the other baby “gear” are worn out the baby book lives on from generation to generation.

Smile for the Birdie Baby Photo Frames – New!

Smile for the Birdie Photo Frame

BabySakes.com is excited to introduce these wonderful wooden photo frames by Smile for the Birdie.

When we started the search for a new boutique manufacturer of photo frames for the BabySakes online store, we didn’t have to look far!

One of our favorite baby shower gifts received for our daughter #2 was this gorgeous chunky wooden frame. We realized we had never looked to see who was the manufacturer – so with a quick flip, we found the maker was “Smile for the Birdie.”

They were a bit difficult to track down, but once we did, we were delighted to receive a catalog that exceeded our expectations in unique photo frame designs for the new baby and family. The pictures are fantastic, but they are even better in person! Each frame is remarkably large (bigger than they look in the photos!) and makes a great design accessory for baby’s nursery.

Each photo frame includes a stand for tabletop display as well as can be mounted on the wall. One of our favorite features is that the edges are gently brushed giving them an antiqued finish “shabby chic” quality.

Being a family business ourselves, we are also glad to support Smile for the Birdie, which is a family business that began with two parents designing, creating and painting frames in their own workshop.

BabySakes now stocks approximately 75 Smile for the Birdie photo frame designs – we are delighted to offer them here.

As an introductory special, we are offering 10% off Smile for the Birdie Frames – just enter coupon code SFB10 when you check out (good through June 15).

AimeeJ Introduces 8×8 Baby Days Albums

AimeeJ 8×8 Baby Days AlbumNew 8×8 Album
The AimeeJ 12×12 Baby Days Album has always been a customer favorite. It’s standard scrapbook size and post-bound binding attracts scrapbookers looking for a guided format with the flexibility to do some creative entries onto blank pages as well. However, while some Moms liked the format, they preferred a smaller and more portable baby album. Problem solved!

AimeeJ has just introduced new 8×8 albums with a similar look to the cover and page designs in the handy 8×8 format. The new album is also post-bound, so you can add more 8×8 pages to it, such as photo sleeves for holding 4×6 pictures — making it a combined photo album and memory book. The 8×8 album is available in blue and pink How fun!

How much could one have to say about baby books?

Well, let’s find out! BabySakes.com is an online baby book and keepsake store. We aim to carry every baby album imaginable and we spend a good part of our day talking with customers about the ins and outs of baby memory books. We thought that others might find bits and pieces of these conversations useful along the way and so here we go… it’s the BabySakes blog. In case you are subscribing (we encourage you to), we’ll also post our special offers and deals here as they come up. And of course, we’d love to hear your comments! :-)
